Norrlandsoperan Symphony Orchestra is looking for a Principal Cellist

Now you have the chance to become part of Sweden's northernmost symphony orchestra. We need to strengthen our cello section with a principal cellist for a full-time position.

As a principal cellist, you have a strong interest in continuously developing and being a role model for the musicians in your section. The principal cellist contributes to creating a tolerant and inclusive climate in the workplace.

About the role

The position includes between 160–180 performance days (performance days on stage per season), artistic preparation time, workdays for program committee and jury work, etc. This involves a wide variety of productions with symphonic, opera, and chamber music repertoire. A normal season includes between 13 - 15 orchestral productions and 2 – 3 opera productions.

Audition repertoire

• Haydn Cello Concerto in D major, movement 1 with cadenza (Gendron)
• Bach Cello Suite No. 6 Allemande
• Movement 1 from one of the following concertos:
• Dvořák Cello Concerto in B minor or Schumann Cello Concerto in A minor
• Orchestral excerpt: Will be provided upon invitation via Musical Chair
